2015 Resumed session of the Committee on NGOs
The 2015 Resumed Session of the Committee on NGOs took place from 26 May to 3 June (and will end the session on 12 June with the adoption of its report), reviewing a total of 388 applications (including 176 applications that had been deferred from previous sessions), 7 reclassifications and 215 quadrennial reports.

A total of 160 applications were recommended for consultative status with ECOSOC.The Committee closed, without prejudice, the consideration of 27 applications. Pending receipt of answers to questions posed by the members, the Committee deferred a total of 200 applications to its next session.

The Committee took note of a total of 168 quadrennial reports submitted by NGOs in Special and General consultative status. Pending clarifications, the Committee deferred a total of 47 reports to its next session due to objections and questions by delegations. The Committee also dealt with the issue of organizations that had failed to submit their quadrennial report in due time, as stated in ECOSOC resolution 2008/4. Out of the organizations that were previously suspended of their consultative status for one year, due to their failure to submit a quadrennial report, 24 organizations had submitted a report within the year they were suspended and will be re-instated by ECOSOC in July 2015. The rest, 85 organizations, will have their consultative status withdrawn, as stated in the resolution 2008/4. These organizations may re-apply after three years.Furthermore, 165 organizations will have their consultative status suspended for one year starting in July 2015 - due to non submission of their quadrennial report.

The report of the Committee (E/2015/32 (part II)), which contains the above recommendations, is expected to be taken up by ECOSOC at its next Coordination and Management Meeting, between 20-22 July 2015.
