Open Ended Working Group on Ageing
The Fifth Session of the Open Ended Working Group on Ageing (30 July 1 August) will include four panel discussions which pay attention to the Human Rights and Care of Older Persons; Violence and Abuse against Older Persons (with a focus on older women and financial abuse); the Planning for End of Life Care: Legal and Financial issues; as well as Recent Developments and how to strengthen the rights of older persons through enhanced implementation
of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing. The newly Human Rights Council appointed Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older persons, Ms. Rosita Kornfeld-Matte will address the working group for the first time, and the Special Advisor of the Secretary General on Post-2015 Development will address the Working Group on the theme Older Persons and the Post-2015 Agenda.
