18 July: Informal Multi-stakeholder Hearings for the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting to Address Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants
In preparation for the 19 September 2016 high-level meeting to address large movements of refugees and migrants, the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA) will host an informal interactive multi-stakeholder hearing on 18 July 2016. The hearing will provide the opportunity for stakeholders to engage with UN Member States on this important topic. The outcome of the hearing will be a Presidentís summary.

Non-governmental organizations that are in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with relevant expertise are invited to apply to register for the 18 July informal hearing and/or the 19 September high-level meeting. Non-governmental organizations that are not accredited to ECOSOC are invited to apply for special accreditation.

At the request of the Office of the President of the UN General Assembly (OPGA), the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) are facilitating an open and participatory process to identify attendees and speakers for this event, as well as for the 19 September High-level meeting.

Travel funding will be available for several of the speakers selected through this process, for both the 18 July and 19 September events.
