11 February: UNDESA Side Event at World Urban Forum: "The Role of Cities in the 2018 High-Level Political Forum: Transformation Towards Sustainable and Resilient Societies"
On 11 February, from 11:00-12:00pm in the UN Room of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the UNDESA Division for Sustainable Development will hold a side event at the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which will mobilize a large number of urban actors in national governments, subnational and local governments, civil society, the private sector and academia to share knowledge and solutions for sustainable urban development. The side event aims to share and discuss ways that cities and urban stakeholders contribute to the theme of the 2018 HLPF, and concrete avenues for engagement in the HLPF preparations, forum, and beyond. The event is open to all forum participants. The Division for Sustainable Development is coordinating with the UN Office for Sustainable Development, who will hold a side event immediately following (12:00-13:00) to provide substantive input to the urban discussion at the 2018 HLPF.
